Visitors should expect delays of up to 30 minutes on U.S. Highway 101 along Lake Crescent at Milepost 228 just west of Sledgehammer Point from Monday, Oct. 5-Friday, Nov. 2, because of routine maintenance work.
Rock scaling and bolting is done periodically in this area to reinforce the cliff face and lessen the chance of rock falling onto the road. To accommodate construction equipment and provide for public safety, the road will be reduced to one-lane of traffic during construction.
Flaggers and pilot cars will guide motorists through the active construction areas on weekdays; temporary traffic signals will be installed for weekend and evening travel.
Oversized vehicles are encouraged to use an alternate route.
