Susan Baritelle, owner of Dungeness Kids Co. in Sequim, recently received a thank-you plaque from members of the Marine Corps League for her efforts in support of the 2012 U.S. Marine Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.
Through the Christmas season Baritelle offered store discounts and special sales to encourage customers to contribute to Toys for Tots and provided a discount to the Toys for Tots campaign during a special toy buy. From left are Mark Schildknecht, Sid Gerling, Dan Abbott, Toys for Tots coordinator Eric Miner (kneeling), Baritelle, her son Brayden, employee Kelly Phillips and Terry Roth. In front is Roth’s pet bulldog, Gunny.
Miner said this season’s toy drive was especially challenging, but in the end more than 6,854 toys were delivered to 3,153 less-fortunate children. Every request made during the 2012 season was filled, Miner said.
“A huge ‘well done’ to all the members and volunteers who braved the cold and wet, manning collection boxes, sorting and packing, and long hours away from home, to help accomplish our mission,” Miner said. “We hope 2013 will be a happy and prosperous new year for all.”
