The Shelter Providers Network of Clallam County will analyze changes in local homelessness at its Wednesday, Feb. 20, meeting at 9 a.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church’s downstairs fellowship hall, 301 Lopez Ave., Port Angeles. 

Tallies from the Jan. 24 Point-In-Time count indicate a continued decline in numbers of people who are literally homeless in Clallam County, while record numbers at the Feb. 8 Project Home Connect service fair reflect rising poverty.

“We’re teetering on a pinnacle,” said Kathy Wahto, executive director of Serenity House. “We’ve been successful in housing people, but now the risk is greater than ever around employment options, benefits, a very slow economy and how we help people climb back into financial independence.” 

Also on the agenda are reports from Homelessness Advocacy Day in Olympia and on services, housing and funding issues. The HMIS Users Group will meet shortly after the SPN adjourns at 10:30 a.m.
