On Feb. 5, State Rep. Steve Tharinger (D-Sequim) introduced House Bill 1663, one that extends the expiration date for certain regulations governing hog fuel or wood waste and other wood residuals including forest derived biomass, from 2013 to 2024. 

The act requires every taxpayer claiming a sales and use tax exemption for hog fuel use to file a complete annual survey with the Department of Revenue. 

The survey must include the amount of the tax preference being claimed as well as employment information about the facilities for the exemption is being claimed.

This act also establishes disclosure standards for the information collected from the surveys. 

The bill is scheduled for a public hearing in the House Committee on Technology & Economic Development on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
