Master Gardener Selinda Barkhuis kicks off the 2013 Class Act Series at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden in Sequim with her “Show and Tell” on seed starting and the hydroponic supplies she uses to grow salad through the winter and to start vegetables in spring, all indoors. The program is at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the demonstration garden, 2711 Woodcock Road.
Barkhuis, whose garden was featured on the 2012 Master Gardeners Petals and Pathways Tour, will cover lights, trays, growing medium, nutrients, water pH testing, daily and weekly watering and fertilizing chores, what to grow and how to harvest. Barkhuis has been successful in growing sufficient salad greens through the winter for two people.
