Arnold D. Heth

No service was reported for Sequim resident Arnold D. Heth, who died Sept. 18, 2008, at the age of 99.

He was born Aug. 28, 1909, in Parkston, S.D.

During the Depression, his country store failed and he went to Idaho to mine enough gold to continue his journey to California, where he became a grading contractor.

He is survived by daughters Cynthia Martin of Sequim and Vivian Weddle of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother Maynard; and 10 grandchildren.



Frances Lynn Patterson

A private family gathering will be held at a later date for Sequim resident Frances Lynn Patterson, who died Sept. 23, 2008, at the age of 61 of a heart condition.

She was born Nov. 18, 1946, in Albany, Calif., to Frank and Marie Ange Lamontagne Yakovich.

Most recently she worked at Safeway in Sequim.

She enjoyed the ocean, the Elwha River and reading.

She is survived by her daughters Yvonne Lanhares of Dixon, Calif., and Lori Fitzgerald of Vacaville, Calif.; mother Marie Hill of Sequim; brother Frank Yakovich of Idaho; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be sent to a favorite charity.

Drennan & Ford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.



Lois Evelyn Burton

No service will be held at the request of Port Angeles resident Lois Evelyn Burton, who died Sept. 22, 2008, at the age of 90.

She was born Jan. 18, 1918, in Winner, S.D., to Roy and Madge Bramblett Smikle.

She married James H. Burton on Aug. 26, 1936. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Burton was a government worker during World War II, homemaker and assistant to her husband as executive secretary of the Piano Tuner's Guild for several years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and cooking.

She is survived by nieces Peggy Armstrong and Paula Crawford of Sequim and a large extended family in South Dakota, California and Washington.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brother Roy Smikle and sisters Clarice Hertz and Marilyn Adams.
