Anna Carlson
A private family service will be held for Sequim resident Anna Carlson, who died July 23, 2009, at the age of 99.
She was born May 14, 1910, in Tuolumne, Calif., to Frederik and Anna Erickson Ostrom.
The eldest of three children, her family moved to a farm in Denair, Calif., in 1912.
Upon graduation from high school, she moved to the Oakland-San Francisco area and attended Heald's Business College. After graduation, she worked for Metropolitan Life in San Francisco.
She met her husband John G. Carlson at Neptune Beach in Alameda, Calif. They were married May 23, 1931.
Mrs. Carlson raised a family and was the business manager for her husband's construction company. She enjoyed traveling, camping in Yosemite, cooking, baseball and most of all, bingo.
She moved to Sequim after her husband died to be with family.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Glenn and Roberta Carlson of Sequim; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Sydney Treat of Sequim; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son Richard; and two brothers, Fred and David Ostrom.
Karen Elaine Gissel
A private memorial will be held at a later date for Sequim resident Karen Elaine Gissel, who died Aug. 16, 2009, at the age of 73.
She was born June 1, 1936, in Ontario, Ore., to Patrick and Verna Gissel.
She graduated from Willamette High School in 1954, where she was the homecoming queen.
She made her home for the past year with her caregivers Mike and Venay Money.
She is survived by her son Mark Sustello of Portland, Ore.; daughters Sonja Rae Gochenauer and Gina Lynn Neptune; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Wilkinson.
Linde Family Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Sophie Cosic
Lundstrom
A memorial service will be at Sequim Community Church, 950 N. Fifth Ave.,
Sequim at 3 p.m. Friday Aug. 28, for Sequim resident Sophie Cosic Lundstrom.
Mrs. Lundstrom died Aug. 12, 2009, at the age of 92.
She was born Sept. 25, 1916, in St. Louis, Mo.
The family moved to California when she was in her teens.
She was very active in sports including skiing, horseback riding, tennis, fishing and backpacking.
She married Walton Lundstrom in 1941.
Mrs. Lundstrom worked for the state of California for 40 years, including fire watch in the hills above Fresno.
After her retirement, the Lundstroms moved to Sequim where they enjoyed fishing and crabbing.
She became very active in Bible study, Circle meeting, project days and prayer meetings at Sequim Presbyterian Church, now Sequim Community Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in law, Cress and Darla Lundstrom of Yukon Territory, Canada; sister Ann Vascov of Fresno, Calif.; a grandson; a granddaughter; a nephew; and a niece.
Angelique Kalchschmid
No service was reported for Sequim resident Angelique Kalchschmid, who died Aug. 16, 2009, at the age of 29 of cystic fibrosis.
She was born August 5, 1980, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
David Brian Whitney
Private services will be held for Sequim resident David Brian Whitney, who died Aug. 15, 2009, at the age of 53.
He was born Oct. 28, 1955, in Inglewood, Calif., to Clifford E. and Joyce M. Whitney.

Joyce Gallagher
A celebration of the life of Joyce Gallagher of Port Angeles, formerly of Discovery Bay, will be held in September at the Olympic Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship in Agnew.
Gallagher, 76, died in her home Aug. 23 of natural causes.
