LaVerle Ackerman
A funeral was held for Quilcene resident LaVerle Ackerman, who died June 21, 2010, at the age of 82.
She was born April 16, 1928, in Maiden Rock, Wis., to William and Neila Alexander Leavitt. She attended school in Discovery Bay, Lake Leland, Quilcene, Port Ludlow and Chimacum.
She married Alvin Ackerman on Jan. 6, 1948, at Col. Webster Cook's home in Port Townsend. She was a homemaker, worked with her husband in the woods cutting shakes with their children in the 1950s and 1960s, and ran their secondhand shop.
She loved traveling and said she was like a gypsy, always on the road.
She was a member of Washington Old Time Fiddlers and World War II Normandy Battle of Bulge in Gig Harbor.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary for 37 years.
She loved cooking, baking, gardening, flowers, painting handmade windmills her husband made, car shows and trains.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Ackerman of Quilcene; son and daughter-in-law Janet and Kenneth Alvin Ackerman Sr. of Quilcene; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Bernie Hilsabeck of Damascus, Ore.; Susan and Patrick Cook of Sequim; and Kristy Ackerman of Quilcene; brother Gary Leavitt of Quilcene; sisters Berniece Jackson of Davenport and Wanda McCone of Forks; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Gano
No services were reported for Sunland resident Evelyn Gano, who died June 24, 2010, at the age of 91.
She was born May 26, 1919, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to John and Harriet Bowen Ehrman.
She married Orville Gano on Nov. 26, 1994. She was an executive secretary at Checker Motors, Kalamazoo, and several other companies in Michigan and California.
She enjoyed playing the organ, gardening and flower arranging and she and her husband shared a love of ballroom dancing. With his encouragement, she learned to land his Cessna, in case of emergency.
He preceded her in death in 2007.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Kaufman of Port Angeles; two granddaughters and two grandsons.
Helen H. Sibole
At her request, no service will be held for Port Angeles resident Helen H. Sibole.
She died June 18, 2010, at the age of 101.
She was born Oct. 16, 1908, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Simeon Gardner and Ida (Perkins) Hunt.

Larry Lee McCombs
Larry Lee McCombs, age 73, of Sequim, Washington passed away on June 14, 2010 in Kellogg, Idaho. This sudden and unexpected loss was a result of a pulmonary embolism, following a knee replacement surgery.
Larry was born June 18, 1936 in Roubaix, South Dakota to
Virgil and Ethel (Parlin) McCombs. Larry graduated from Rapid City High in South Dakota, went on to earn his master's degree in art at George Peabody University and worked as an art teacher before returning to college to earn a master's degree in divinity from Andrews University. He then worked as a pastor for the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oregon and Washington State.
Larry married Sharon McIntyre on June 23, 1959 in Kellogg, Idaho. He is survived by his wife Sharon; 2 daughters and their spouses Lori and Ron Field of Merced, California, and Jill and Marc Stickle of Kelowna, British Colombia; 2 brothers and their spouses Virl and Lucille McCombs, and Lane and Mary McCombs; 4 grandchildren Ashley and her spouse Andy McEowen, Blake Field, Jamie Stickle, and Chet Stickle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Theron McCombs, and 2 sisters Fern Mackie, and Leone Weber.
Larry loved art, horses, the outdoors, and politics. His greatest loves were his wife Sharon, his family, many close friends, and his beloved dog Gracie.
He left behind a legacy of loving relationships and will be greatly missed by those who were blessed enough to know him.

Isaac Alexander Smith
Isaac Alexander Smith went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2010, following a serious accident on the way to a family gathering in Agassiz, British Columbia, Canada. Isaac touched many lives during his memorable 12 years on earth. Although we will miss him every day, he will remain forever in our hearts and we are thankful for the privilege of knowing him and for all the wonderful memories.
Isaac was involved in the Dungeness Community Church Youth Group and theatre, the Missoula Children's Theatre, Aspire Academy piano and Olympic Peninsula Home Connections. Isaac had many and various interests, including drawing, composing piano music, bike riding, kayaking, reading, Lego, inventions, stop motion movies, Fantastic Mr. Fox, magic tricks, guitar, sword fighting, motorcycles, building forts, camping, hiking, tubing, fishing, mechanics, swimming, playing spy, juggling, archery, bird watching -- especially eagles -- and the color blue.
Isaac's life is one to be celebrated. He loved Jesus with his whole heart. He committed his life to Christ during a bedtime conversation with his father in which he expressed his concern that he could go to heaven to be with God and Jesus. He prayed with his dad that night, he was only 2 years and 9 months old. Just one year later he expressed to his dad, "Dad, I was
wondering, if someone in the neighborhood or school got hit by a car and people were around him and crying, I'd go out there and tell them, 'Why are you crying? he's in heaven.'" Isaac always asked questions about God, trying to wrap his mind around spiritual truths. He had a sweet ability to see the hurt in others' lives and bring encouragement and help. A month ago while working with his grandfather in the garden, Isaac spoke about heaven and how cool it would be.
Isaac is survived by his loving parents, Josh and Teresa Smith; sister Adalie, paternal grandparents Ron and Jeri Smith, maternal grandparents Fritz and Hanne Seidel, paternal aunt Sheri Huisman (Therin, Jessica, Zach), paternal uncles Der Smith (Lani, Dammond, Destiny, Joelle, Jenaye, Laila), Matt Smith, maternal aunts Jackie Seidel, Stephanie Westlund (Scott, Cameron), Katie Bidulock (Darryl, Owen) and maturnal great grandmother, Alma Kobabe.
He was predeceased by maternal great grandfather Heinrich Kobabe, maternal great grandparents Pearl and Clair Gilchrist, paternal great grandparents Neil Smith and
Genevieve Schmuck.
The memorial service was held on Saturday, June 26, 2010, from 10:30-11:30 am, at Dungeness Community Church.

LOIS RUTH MCNULTY
Lois Ruth McNulty passed away on June 8, 2010 at her home in Sequim surrounded by her family. She succumbed to aplastic anemia which she courageously fought for many years.
Lois was born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin to Grant and Sylvia Jacobson Underdahl. She met the love of her life, Edward K. McNulty, at her 16th birthday party. After attending the University of Wisconsin for one year, she married Edward in 1954. In 1956 they welcomed a daughter to their family. Later that year they moved to Florida, where they lived for the next five years, and added a son and another daughter to their family. In 1961 the family moved to Alaska, where Lois graduated form the University of Alaska with a degree in Elementary Education. Lois and Edward taught school in several remote locations in Alaska, before finally settling in their home of 38 years, Ketchikan. Lois taught primary grades in Alaska for 21 years.
After retiring, Lois became very involved in art, painting with oils and acrylics, and drawing with colored pencils. She treasured her time with her four young grandsons, who lived nearby. In 2003 Lois and Edward moved to Sequim.
Lois was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. She had a kind word to share with everyone, and made new friends everywhere she went. Her involvement and commitment to her children and grandsons was a major part of her life. Lois was a blessing to all who knew and loved her and will be greatly missed.
Lois is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edward McNulty; daughter Cynthia McNulty and her son Michael McNulty, of Sequim; son and daughter-in-law Peter and Nancy McNulty of Ketchikan, AK; daughter and son-in-law Maria and Bill Seabolt and their sons Gregory, Kevin and Nicholas Seabolt, of Sequim.
She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law Karen and John Preston of Bonita Springs, FL; Diane and Terry Strandberg of Oconomowoc, WI; cousin Donald and Marilyn Jacobson of Sequim and many nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held in the summer. Cremation was with Sequim Valley Chapel.

Lucas Lahmeyer
Lucas was born in Ketchikan, AK, Oct. 11, 1988. He attended grade school in Sitka, AK until 7th grade when he moved with his family to Sequim where he graduated in 2007.
Though he loved living "down-south" his heart remained in Alaska. He loved the rain, beaches, and walks in the woods. He was our "free-spirit."
Lucas was fiercely protective of his family, courteous, honest to a fault, always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved to make people laugh, enjoyed hanging with his friends, his toys, his cars, cooking and, most of all, spending time with his daughter, Ava.
Lucas is survived by his birth mom, Phaedra (Kleinschmidt) Painter, parents, Ed & Debi Lahmeyer, Grandparents, Ernie & Leilah Anderes and Geord Kleinschmidt, girlfriend Brandy Grundwalt, daughter Ava Destiny Lahmeyer, siblings Eddi, Piroska & Gabriela Lahmeyer, Kaylee Kleinschmidt, half siblings Devon & Shalynn Kleinschmidt and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins.
No memorial is planned. A celebration will be held later this summer in Ketchikan.
