Charles ‘Gypsy’ Duane Maaske
A memorial service for Port Angeles resident Charles “Gypsy” Duane Maaske will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at Lighthouse Christian Church, 304 Viewcrest St., Port Angeles.
Mr. Maaske died May 28, 2011, at the age of 66.
He was born Dec. 16, 1944, in Omaha, Neb., to Charles Dale and Elenor Jean Cross Maaske.  
Drennan & Ford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

 

Sylvia M. ‘Bam’ Burns
A memorial service will be held for Sequim resident Sylvia M. “Bam” Burns at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Eastern Hill Community Church, 91 Savannah Lane, Sequim.
She died May 18, 2011, at the age of 91.
She was born Jan. 27, 1920.
She married John “Jack” Burns in Chehalis.
She enjoyed painting and doing volunteer work at Dungeness Courte Alzheimer’s Community.
She is survived by her children, John Burns of Gilroy, Calif.; Judy Sullins of Sequim; and Mary Fenton-Lee of Redmond; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

 

 

Frank Greenwell
A memorial service will be held for Sequim resident Frank Greenwell at 1 p.m. Monday, June 6, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
The Rev. Robert Rhoades is the officiant. A reception follows the service.
Mr. Greenwell died May 11, 2011, at the age of 90 of Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Wyoming to Frank and Ruth Yarrington Greenwell.
He served in the United States Coast Guard as a merchant seaman and attended college for two years but did not earn a degree. He owned insulation and sandblasting companies in Seattle.
He married Jean MacDonald in 1970 in Seattle. The couple moved to the North Olympic Peninsula in 1986. He enjoyed golf, bowling, cooking, and ballroom dancing and was a member of the Elks.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Greenwell; son Frank Greenwell Jr.; daughters and sons-in-law Sherri and Mark McWhirter; Suzanne Simmons; and Roy Kelley; sister-in-law Elsie Greenwell; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Kelley; son-in-law Bob Simmons; brother Bud Greenwell; sister-in-law Ruth Lincoln; and sister Becky.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Alzheimer’s organizations.

 

 

Yvonne Hunt
No services were reported for Sequim resident Yvonne Hunt, who died May 17, 2011, at the age of 83.
She was born April 11, 1928, in Port Angeles.
She is survived by three sons, seven grandchildren; a brother, and a sister.
Memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of choice.

 

 

Gordon “Gordy” Melvey
No service was reported at the request of Sequim resident Gordon “Gordy” Melvey, who died May 23, 2011, at the age of 84.
He was born May 2, 1927, in Seattle to Ernest and Frieda Stahl Melvey.
He served in the United States Navy from May 1945-June 1946.
He married Renata Biczysko Melvey on Aug. 13, 1971, in Seattle. He taught German and Norwegian at Seattle high schools. He loved to play golf.
He is survived by his wife, Renate; son and daughter-in-law Bob and Mary Melvey; daughter and son-in-law Marilyn and Alex Jimenez; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann, and his brother Robert G. Melvey.

Michael J. Golling
No services were reported for Port Angeles resident Michael J. Golling, who died May 22, 2011, at the age of 50.
He was born July 2, 1960, in Oakland, Calif., to Daniel and Patricia Nelligan Golling.

William Clayton (Clay) Wilson
William Clayton (Clay) Wilson, born October 16, 1959, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes early in the morning on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at his home in Port Angeles. He is survived by his parents, Bill and Betty Wilson; his brother, Dale Wilson and family; and his life partner Charlotte Becker.
After graduation from high school, Clay joined the Marine Corps and served from 1977 to 1982 as an aircraft communication navigation systems technician. He was awarded a good conduct medal, an expert rifle badge, and an expert pistol badge.
Following his service in the military, he attended San Diego State University and obtained a degree in Industrial Psychology. As a para-educator at Sequim High School, Clay was an integral part of the team of teachers who work with developmentally-disabled students who have special needs.
Clay loved a good debate, whether it was regarding sports or geopolitics. He was a born teacher, and he loved teaching his kids and watching them grow. He was a devoted and loving man to family and friends, and he adored his three Shih-Tzu dogs. His quick wit and wry sense of humor were a huge part of who he was, along with a generous and benevolent spirit. He was a compassionate and kind soul who touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at the John Wayne Marina in Sequim at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 4th, 2011.
