Ronald J. Beam
A memorial service for Port Angeles resident Ronald J. Beam will be scheduled in the spring.
Mr. Beam died Feb. 26, 2008, at the age of 96.
He was born Dec. 16,1912, in Birmingham, Ala.
He married Phyllis I. Beam on Oct. 28, 1939, in Detroit, Mich. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2006.
Mr. Beam is survived by children James R. Beam of Albuquerque, N.M.; and Judith D. Petersen of Sequim; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.



Joan Bayer
A service has been held for former Sequim resident Joan Bayer, who died Feb. 22, 2008, at the age of 71.
She was born Oct. 1, 1936, in St. Louis, Mo.
She married William C. Bayer on Dec. 6, 1956. He preceded her in death.
They moved to California in 1958 and relocated to Arizona in the mid-1990s.
She was a longterm supporter of several charitable organizations, including the Arizona Humane Society, Easter Seals and the Arizona Kidney Foundation.
She is survived by her children Tom and wife Paula, Terri and husband Gary Hulse, Bob and wife Mary; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.



Dwight William Johnson

No public service has been reported for Sequim resident Dwight William Johnson, who died Feb. 15, 2008, at the age of 65.
He was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Seattle, to Thomas and Lydia Lavina Johnson.
He graduated from high school in Mount Vernon and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles.
He was a computer programmer/specialist in San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle and Sequim. In addition, he compiled the Rosicrucian Ephemorides planetary tables for the 20th and 21st centuries.
He married Jeanne Taber on Nov. 11, 1999, in Sequim.
He studied music at San Francisco Conservatory of Music and was a violinist with the Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra.
He was a member of Linux Users’ Group.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne Taber Johnson of
Sequim; son Christopher Taber of Victoria, British Columbia; daughter Robin Towers of Orlando, Fla.; three cousins; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Sylvia.
Olympic Cremation Association was in charge of arrangements.



Shirley Thirtyacre

A celebration of life for Sequim resident Shirley Thirtyacre will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, March 9, at the Sequim Valley Church of the Nazarene, 481 Carlsborg Road.
Mrs. Thirtyacre died March 1, 2008, in Seattle. She was born in Maryland and raised her family in Sequim.
She was known as a loving mother, grandmother and friend whose strong faith and generosity touched the hearts of all who knew her.
