Clarence Earl Hotz
A funeral for Port Angeles resident Clarence Earl Hotz will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Drennan & Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles. Mr. Hotz died Nov. 7, 2008, at the age of  91.
He was born Sept. 20, 1916, in Vanguard, Saskatchewan, Canada, to John Walter and Genevieve Hotz.

Pauline Lena Washke
A graveside service for Port Angeles resident Pauline Lena Washke will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 5977 Northwest Drive, Ferndale. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at Drennan & Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles.
Mrs. Washke died Nov. 6, 2008, at the age of 89. She was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Scenic Township, Stark County, N.D., to Frank and Magdalena Huschka. The fifth of 12 children, she attended parochial school and public school in Hope, N.D. She married George G. Washke on Nov. 24, 1946, in Seattle.
Later, they moved to Burlington, then to Port Angeles where her husband purchased an original share in Peninsula Plywood.
Mrs. Washke was a member of the Catholic faith, the American Legion Auxiliary in Hope, N.D., and The Amalgamated Meat Cutters & Butcher Workman Local No. 186.
She is survived by her son Paul Washke of Port Angeles; step-daughters and sons-in-law Clara and Late Brownie Hunt of Juneau, Alaska; Tammy and Matt Hesseltine of Brewster; brother Fritz Huschka of Hope, N.D.; sisters and brothers-in-law Eva and Richard Pickar of Finley, N.D. and Angie and Leo Heckel of Della Vista, Ark.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death on March 28, 1973. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Vincent Huschka, Jerome Huschka, Adam Huschka, George Huschka, Andrew Huschka and Valentine Huschka; and sisters Amy Kubischta and Ida Gunkel.

Phyllis R. Sanderson
A service has been held for Port Angeles resident Phyllis R. Sanderson, who died Nov. 1, 2008, at the age of 79.
She was born Nov. 20, 1928, in Port Angeles to Raymond and Ruth Short Doran.
She married Richard Sanderson on March 16, 1947, in Port Angeles.
She attended Peninsula College to become a licensed practical nurse and was an obstetrics nurse. Mrs. Sanderson enjoyed reading, gardening, baking and bowling. She also enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Sanderson of Port Angeles; son Mark Sanderson of Sequim; daughters Laurie Bower and Sherry Zindel, both of Port Angeles; brothers Dale Doran and Bill Doran, both of Port Angeles; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mary Ellen Goff Coffey
A service has been held for Port Angeles resident Mary Ellen Goff Coffey, who died Nov. 2, 2008, at the age of 85.
She was born May 22, 1923, in Harlan County, Ky., to Harvey and Ethel Bell Goff.
She married Olan D. Coffey on April 13, 1946, in Blue Ridge, Ga. He preceded her in death.
In 1974, the Coffeys moved across the country to Forks and the following year they settled in Port Angeles. She was the most senior member of First Church of God in Port Angeles at the time of her death.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Gary and Jean Coffey and Rich and Diane Coffey, all of Port Angeles; daughter and son-in-law Oleana and Thomas Maschhoff of Tacoma; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother William Curtis and sisters Reba James and Alice Howard.

Nova Suzanne Varner Benson
A private service will be held for Sequim resident Nova Suzanne Varner Benson, who died Oct. 30, 2008, at the age of 90.
She was born Nov. 3, 1917, in Wayne County, Ill., to James Alva and Eva Ramsey Varner.
She married Menzel Benson on Oct. 16, 1943, in Alexandria, La. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1973.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Eastern Illinois University. Mrs. Benson worked as a paralegal and secretary in Louisiana and Illinois. She was owner and operator of Maple Point Resort, Eagle River, Wis., for 23 years. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Canton, Ill., and First Congregational Church of Eagle River, Wis. She also was a member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law James and Nan Benson of Sequim; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Lawrence Heisler of Sparta, N.J., and four grandchildren.

Martin Joseph Doyle
A service for Port Angeles resident Martin Joseph Doyle will be held at a later date in New Jersey. Mr. Doyle died Oct. 31, 2008, at the age of 76 of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
He was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Newark, N.J., to John Francis and Sadie Vogel Doyle.
He married Theresa Anzella in 1959. She preceded him in death. A marriage to Maureen McKeown in 1972 ended in divorce. He married Jeanne Engleman on Nov. 17, 1973, in Irvington, N.J. They separated in 2000.
He was a veteran of the Korean War. He served in the U.S. Army as a corporal with Infantry Special Forces, Fort Jay, N.J. Mr. Doyle was a rodeo circuit bareback bronc rider, journeyman carpenter, journeyman electrician, pressman, truck driver, mechanic and auto glass installer while living in New Jersey, Florida, South Carolina and Washington. Fondly known by friends and family as “Grandpa,” he had a wonderful sense of humor, loved visiting with friends and shared his love and knowledge of horses and German shepherds.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Doyle of New Jersey; sons James Doyle of New Jersey and William Doyle of California; stepson John Engleman of New Jersey; daughter and son-in-law Donna and David Lucas Sr. of Port Angeles; sister Helen Mueller of Belford, N.J.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sister Deloris Skiermont.

Donald Leon Chadwick
Sequim resident Donald Leon Chadwick died Oct. 24, 2008, at the age of 44.
He was born Aug. 30, 1964, in Livermore, Calif., to Donald and Janet Chadwick.
He married Staci Jo Chadwick on Dec. 20, 1997.
Mr. Chadwick was proud to be the president of the Peninsula Chapter of the Hombres MC. He loved riding his Harley and horses with his wife and they took numerous trips on their motorcycle. He loved fishing and camping with his children and helping them raise animals for 4-H and FFA. He loved farming and growing things and being out on the tractor. He was a great tattoo artist and took great pride in his trade.
He is survived by his wife, Staci; children Donald, Paige and Patty of Bremerton; stepchildren Cameron and Bailey Edwards; parents Donald and Janet Chadwick of Utah; brothers Calvin and Brad Chadwick, both of California; a grandson and numerous other family members.

Dr. Paul M. Hoque
A celebration of life will be held at a later date for Dr. Paul M. Hoque, who died Oct. 28, 2008, at the age of 56 of cancer. He was born March 6, 1951.
No further obituary information was available.

Bonnie Patricia Ferguson
A private family memorial will be held at a later date for Bonnie Patricia Ferguson, who died Oct. 29, 2008, at the age of 87 after a short illness.
She was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Tacoma to Floyd Leonard and Theresa Adalaine Keune.
She married Joseph Hilliard Ferguson on Feb. 10, 1943, in St. Petersburg, Fla.
A dedicated wife and mother, she was a homemaker and Coast Guard wife who lived in Hawaii and Alaska before settling in Port Angeles and Sequim. She was generous, witty and gracious.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Ferguson; son and daughter-in-law Don and Denise Ferguson of Ashland, Ore.; son John Ferguson of Bellingham; daughter and son-in-law Glenna and Bob Campbell of Sequim; son-in-law Jeff Selby of Hadlock; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Theresa Selby in 1976.



Frances E. Annas
At her request, no service is planned for Sequim resident Frances E. Annas, who died Nov. 8, 2008, at the age of 93. She was born in Seattle in 1915.
During her early years, she taught piano and accordion. She played professional piano for many years in Sequim, entertaining others at the Sequim and Port Angeles senior centers, local nursing homes and retirement homes.
Mrs. Annas was a life member of the Port Angeles and Chimacum senior centers, a life member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Senior Queen for the Irrigation Festival and Senior Princess for the Clallam County Fair.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Walter Annas of Sequim; sons Jim Perfrement of Phoenix, Ariz., and Richard Perfrement of Sequim; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Sequim Senior Activity Center.



Richard Moorhead Price
Burial with military honors will be held in Hawaii for Port Angeles resident Richard Moorhead Price, who died Nov. 8, 2008, at the age of 89 of congestive heart failure.
He was born Aug. 14, 1919, in Castle Rock to William Ellsworth and Vernita June Moorhead.
He graduated from Port Angeles High School and the United States Naval Academy.
He married Gretchen Reichardt in June 1942 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She preceded him in death on Aug. 30, 2006.
A retired lieutenant commander, he served in the Navy from 1941-1962. He specialized in radio communications. He also served on the U.S.S. Enterprise during the Battle of Midway at the age of 22. 
Mr. Price was an electrical engineer in Honolulu, the South Pacific, Micronesia and Koror before he retired to Port Angeles.
He enjoyed photography, loved hunting and fishing until he couldn’t participate in those activities and he was passionate about working on radios.
He is survived by his daughters Sasha Price of Port Angeles and Wendy Olsen of Spencer, N.C.; sister Mary Lou Hanity of Port Angeles; and two grandchildren.
