Jack K. Burkhardt
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 12 at Sequim Worship Center, 640 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim, for Sequim resident Jack K. Burkhardt, who died Nov. 29, 2008, at the age of 78.
He was born Dec. 27, 1929, in California to George and Helen Vick Burkhardt.
He served in the military for six years. He married Susan
Burkhardt on July 11, 1964, in California. A custom home builder, he enjoyed fishing, wood carving, and rock hunting.
He is survived by his wife Susan Burkhardt of Sequim; children Debbie Porter and Mark Burkhardt, both of Southern California; Tina Littleton of Lynden and Kennen Burkhardt of Iowa; brother George Burkhardt; five grandchildren; six nephews; and one niece. Gloria Joanne Gaetz
A celebration of life open house for Sequim resident Gloria Joanne Gaetz will be held from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 13 at 333 Matriotti Ave., Sequim. She died Dec. 1, 2008, at the age of 60 of a severe reaction to chemotherapy treatment. She was born Feb. 7, 1948, in Centralia to Milton and Helen Solberg Gaetz.
A Sequim resident since 1971, she worked at Southwood's, later Town and Country, from 1972 until the business closed in 1988. She worked at Interwest Bank and subsequent purchase banks from 1988-2006 and at Key Bank from 2006 until her death.
A gifted and natural homemaker, Miss Gaetz was a baker, cook, seamstress, decorator and friend. She was a master of what used to be referred to as the feminine arts and proud of it.
She is survived by her brother Charles Gaetz of Sequim; cousins Tom and Sharyl Solberg and Mark and Mary Solberg of Olympia; Marilyn and Dave Hazelquist of Seabeck and Sue and Jerry Stone of Casper, Wyo.; and dozens of friends and supporters.



Gaitha Stanton
A service has been held for Port Angeles resident Gaitha Stanton, who died Dec. 1, 2008, at the age of 96.
She was born June 12, 1912, in Greenville, Ill., to William Theodore and Jennie Eveline Mahon Pilcher. She married John Stanton on Aug. 11, 1935, in Chicago, Ill. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1983.
She was a seamstress and for a short time she taught school in Illinois. She enjoyed dancing, lawn bowling and watching movies.
Mrs. Stanton is survived by her son Richie Stanton of Arlington Heights, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law Martin and Jan Stanton of Port Angeles; daughter and son-in-law June and Stan Wood of Tucson, Ariz., and daughter Mary Ann Perna of Port Angeles; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sons Larry, Jackie and Robert Stanton; sisters Bertha, Gladys, Lucille, Nellie, Arlene and Hazel and brothers Ernest, Eddie and Russel.

Russell  W. Cordery
A celebration of life has been held for Port Angeles resident Russell Cordery, who died Dec. 1, 2008, of respiratory failure at the age of 57.
He was born Sept. 4, 1951, in Montrose, Colo., to Robert and Patsy Erickson Patterson.
He moved to the Olympic Peninsula in 1980. His marriage to Linda Thomas ended in divorce in 1997. He married Sharon McNally in November 2005 in Port Angeles. Mr. Cordery worked as an A-operator at Daishowa and Nippon and as a hydraulics mechanic for Dobsons. He was a Harley enthusiast. Mr. Cordery was a member of The Crossing Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Cordery of Port Angeles; son and daughter-in-law Shawn and Teri Cordery and son Coit "Pat" Cordery, all of Port Angeles; daughter Megan Cordery of Boulder City, Nev.; mother Patsy Patterson of Boulder City; brothers and sisters-in-law Wayne and Linda Cordery of Prattville, Ala.; Steve and Amy Patterson of Boulder City; sister Christine Lewis of Sandpoint, Idaho; and one grandchild.

Richard P. Chapman
A service will be held at a later date for Sequim resident Richard Chapman, who died Dec. 5, 2008, at the age of 72 of cancer.
He was born Oct. 24, 1936, in Stapleton, Neb., to Merald Paul and Lenna Pearl Cline Chapman.
He was married to Barbara Sevier from 1961-1971. She preceded him in death. He married Sharon Quesnell on March 24, 1978, in Shelton.
An airman and aircraft engine mechanic, he served in the Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio and Sheppard Air Force Base, also in Texas, and at McChord Air Force Base in Washington state from 1954-1959.
Mr. Chapman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Washington and was an electronic engineer for the Department of Defense and the Navy. He worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and was a former resident of Bremerton and Tacoma.
He enjoyed making music with his friends and capturing the beauty of the world around him with his watercolors. He was a member of various art organizations, including Quimper Arts.
Mr. Chapman is survived by his wife, Sharon Quesnell Chapman of Sequim; son Michael Paul Chapman of Bremerton; daughter Kelli Ann Chapman of Bremerton; brother and sister-in-law James and Marie Chapman of Stapleton, Neb.; and brother-in-law Jim Beckius of Stapleton, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his brother Clarence Chapman and sister Lila Beckius.

Sequim resident Dorothy C. Rusnell died Dec. 7, 2008, at the age of 90.
She was born April 18, 1918, in Port Angeles.

Sequim resident Maude Violet Donaldson died Dec. 7, 2008, at the age of 96.
She was born Jan. 18, 1912, in Springfield, Mo., to William and Katherine Schoener Young.
