December 31, 2008Leonard L. LookabaughA graveside service for Sequim resident Leonard L. Lookabaugh will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Dungeness Cemetery, 2153 Lotzgesell Road, Sequim. Mr. Lookabaugh died Dec. 24, 2008, at the age of 76. He was born Nov. 18, 1932, in Hollywood, Calif., to Leonard and Esther Althea Bliedung Lookabaugh. He married Corrine Gentry. Carol Leigh Curren A celebration of life for Port Angeles resident Carol Leigh Curren will be held at noon Jan. 17, 2008, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 261 S. Francis St., Port Angeles. Ms. Curren died Dec. 17, 2008, at the age of 62 of breast cancer. She was born Dec. 2, 1946, in Port Angeles, to Lewis Franklin and Roberta Nadine Kuhns Tucker. She served in the United States Navy in 1965 and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ms. Curren was a caregiver for the elderly and the mentally handicapped. She was an amateur herbalist and enjoyed traveling, nature, animals and rock collecting. She is survived by her boyfriend Michael Mackey of Port Angeles; son Breck Curren of Port Angeles; daughter and son-in-law Londa and Mathew Bryant of Port Angeles; brother and sister-in-law Daniel and Virjeanne Tucker of Port Angeles; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Drennan & Ford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Cecil Henry Ayers No service has been reported for Sequim resident Cecil Henry Ayers, who died Dec. 15, 2008, at the age of 90. He was born July 2, 1918, in Casper, Wyo., to Douglas and Lillian Henry Ayers. He graduated from Selah High School and served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Saipan during World War II. He earned the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with a Bronze Star and was honorably discharged on Dec. 3, 1945. Mr. Ayers was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing Puget Sound and Vancouver Island, boating and RVing throughout the western United States with his wife, Marguerite. He served as commodore of the Duwamish Yacht Club from 1991-1993. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; sons Ronald and Randall; daughter Linda; stepdaughters Sharon and Sandra; sister Elsie; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Cynthia M. Campbell A service for Sequim resident Cynthia M. Campbell will be held at a later date. Ms. Campbell died Dec. 22, 2008, at the age of 85. She was born July 19, 1923, in Blyn, to John and Pearl Mercedes Reyes Campbell. She was born developmentally disabled and suffered a stroke in 1971. Ms. Campbell was a longtime resident of Olympic Care and Rehabilitation Center, where she had many friends and enjoyed many activities. She was a citizen of the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe and she enjoyed her trips to the tribe's elder luncheons. She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by brothers John Campbell Jr. and Walter Hubman and sisters Anne Robertson and Tillie Baker. Charley Runnion A private family service for Port Angeles resident Charley Runnion will be held at a later date. Mr. Runnion died Dec. 26, 2008, at the age of 83. He was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Carlsborg to Freeland Swain and Mable Gertrude Potter Runnion. He married Betty Jane Wood on Aug. 11, 1944, in San Diego, Calif. She preceded him in death on Dec. 8, 2003. He served in the United States Navy from Sept. 24, 1943, to Dec. 8, 1946, in the South Pacific aboard the aircraft carrier USS Siboney. Mr. Runnion lived and worked in Carlsborg and Port Angeles as a diesel mechanic in the logging industry. He enjoyed metal fabrication and did repair work for family and friends, everything from clocks to diesel engines. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Charles and Corene Runnion of Alaska; daughters and sons-in-law Beverly and John King of Port Angeles; Elaine Price of Port Angeles; Charlotte and Daniel Watson of Leavenworth; Margaret and Mark Powless of Sequim; Betty and Randy Square-Briggs of Yakima; brother Henry Runnion of Port Angeles; sister and brother-in-law Vera and Carl Meyers of Seattle; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
