Monday Musicale invites all high school seniors intending to major or minor in music to audition for scholarships of up to $3,000. At least $6,000 will go to this year's top per-formers. Last year, Sequim student Matthew Grey tied for third for a $500 scholarship.
The auditions before three professional musicians begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 Lopez Ave., Port Angeles. Students will perform a classical piece of no more than 10 minutes. The performances are open to the public at no cost.
Applications can be picked up at Sequim High School through Mitzi Sanders, 582-3631. The deadline is April 16 for postmarked applications mailed to Mary Hostvedt at 702 S. Alder St., Port Angeles 98362. She can be reached at 457-6139.
Monday Musicale holds musical luncheons each third Monday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 209 W. 11th St., Port Angeles, and a fall concert to raise scholarship funds. Since 1968, Monday Musicale has donated more than $70,000 in scholarships.
