KONP hosts bake-a-thon today

The annual Teen Court/Soroptimist Easter Bake-A-Thon is from 6 a.m.-noon on Wednesday, March 17, at KONP Radio, 721 E. First St., Port Angeles.

Teen Court members provide information about their skills and program via the radio while the public can call in with donations (457-1450) and order baked goods such as banana bread, carrot cake or fritters. All proceeds go to Clallam County Teen Court training.

Teen Court is a diversion court run by youths ages 12-18. It serves first-time offenders accused of misdemeanors in a peer-to-peer courtroom.



P.C. scholarship deadline looms

More than $37,000 in scholarship funds is available for the 2010-2011 academic year at Peninsula College, but the deadline is rapidly approaching. All applications for scholarships must be on file with the college by the end of the workday on Friday, April 9.

Available scholarships include P.C. Foundation-supported awards for graduating high school seniors (a total of $5,000), general scholarships and program-specific ones, such as those for nursing.

Individuals who are planning on attending Peninsula College for the 2010-2011 academic year are encouraged to visit the college Web site at www.pencol.edu and then click on Quicklinks, Financial Resources and Scholarships.

Inquiries also may be directed to the college's Financial Aid Office at 417-6390.



P.C. hosts open house

Sequim residents are invited to an open house to learn more about Peninsula College's spring-quarter community education offerings.

The open house is 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 19, at Dungeness Design, 520 N. Sequim Ave.

Attendees have the opportunity to learn about upcoming classes, meet instructors and register for the classes of their choice. Course topics include computer applications, social media, fine art, photography, wellness, cooking, design for the home, gardening and sign language.

Learn about Running Start

Peninsula College hosts a Running Start Information Night starting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. Port Angeles. It begins at the Lecture Hall in the school's new Science and Technology Building.

The session is to help prospective Running Start students and their parents learn about how high school juniors and seniors can earn tuition-free college credit.
