Scholarships for future teachers available

Beta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is offering grants to college students who are majoring in education.

Applicants must have graduated from a Clallam County high school and be a student at either the junior or senior level in an accredited teacher-training institution of higher learning.

Students who have completed their first two years of work at Peninsula College and have been accepted by an accredited teacher-training program and students working on their fifth year of training also will be eligible.

Wall, climbers raise funds at 'Big Climb'

Tami Wall, a Helen Haller Elementary School third-grade teacher featured in the March 10 edition of the Sequim Gazette ("Helen Haller teacher eyes Big Climb," page A-20) led her group, "The Wall Climbers" up all 1,311 steps at The Big Climb in Seattle on March 21.

Wall and company raised $2,585 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Washington/Alaska Chapter.



Physicians' scholarships, grants available

Caretakers of the Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit Fund are accepting applications for academic scholarships in medically related fields and for medically related community grants. Both will be awarded in 2010.

The scholarships provide tuition support for students in medical fields. To be eligible, a student must be a graduate of a Clallam County high school and have been accepted into (or currently be enrolled in and making satisfactory progress in) a fully-accredited, professional school in a medically related program.

Applications for both scholarships and grants may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit fund, P.O. Box 3005, Port Angeles, WA 98362.

Completed applications are due by June 1.
