Sequim High School student John Galm is just a freshman, but he’s already set his sights on a graduate degree.

 

Sequim Sunrise Rotary honored the ninth-grader’s academic efforts recently with its Student of the Month award for December.

 

Andrew Hosford, Galm’s Digitools teacher, nominated the student for the award.

 

Galm lived in Nevada before moving to Sequim about three years ago. He is enrolled in Digitools, geometry, integrated science, world studies, Spanish and English classes. His favorite classes are Digitools and Spanish.

 

“Art and psychology highly interest me,” Galm said. “I like helping my friends with issues in their life.”

He said he enjoys spending time with friends and experimenting with digital software.

 

Galm serves as an usher at his church and helps out occasionally at the senior center.

 

He said he hopes to earn a PhD in psychology at Stanford University or somewhere in Washington.

Galm is the son of Carmela Galm.
