It’s the kind of streak that can drive players and coach alike a little crazy.

“We come closer and closer with every game we play,” Peninsula coach Heather Sankey said after her Pirates fell to Olympic twice on April 17, extending her team’s losing streak to 10 games.

In the first game against Olympic, the Pirates got plenty of hitting early but not enough key hits late in a 7-5, 10-inning loss. Kayla Ralston had a home run and three RBIs while Kelly Henderson and Sierra McCoy each had two hits, but the Rangers were able to reel off two runs in the top of the 10th for the win.

McCoy was strong on the mound, giving up just six hits and a walk while striking out eight Olympic batters.

In the second game, Olympic scored a run in the first and third and made them both stand in a 2-0 victory.

McCoy was solid once again, striking out five and walking just one.

The Pirates get a chance to regroup with seven full days off before their April 25 doubleheader at Skagit Valley.
