Jaiden Grinnell is making this look easy.

The 17-year-old Port Angeles resident was named to the Team USA 2009 World Championship team after a top-three finish at the fall selection match in Colorado Springs' Fort Carson International Shooting Park Sept. 17.

Grinnell finished third, hitting 258 total targets, including 24-of-25 in the final round.

Haley Dunn of Eddyville, Iowa, took the top spot in women's skeet with a match score of 239 and total of 263 targets, while four-time Olympian (and 2008 Olympic silver medalist in skeet) Kim Rhode of El Monte, Calif., was second with 238 match targets and overall score of 261.

This is Grinnell's first world championship team-qualifying match in the open category. Grinnell also hit 24 targets in the junior final to take the overall junior crown.

Grinnell is the daughter of Jamestown S'Klallam Tribal Council member Kurt Grinnell and Michele Hayman. She is a junior at Port Angeles High School who has been shooting since the age of 12.

Grinnell hopes to represent the U.S. in women's skeetshooting at the 2012 Olympics in London.
