This round goes to the Roughriders.

Riding a strong doubles contingent, host Port Angeles won a battle of unbeatens when they toppled Sequim 4-3 on Sept. 26.

The Roughriders (6-0) swept all four doubles matches, including a three-set thriller in the No. 2 doubles match as Jeff Crumb and Ryan Wilcox edged Sequim's Alex Lamb and Greg Robinson, 7-5, 2-6 and 6-4.

Sequim (5-1) lost to the Roughriders 4-3 last year as well, then rebounded for a 5-1 win against them later in the year. Since 2002, the Wolves are 4-2 against P.A.

Singles players Reed Gunstone, Mallory Maloney and Etorre Scudo kept Sequim close, winning all three singles matches in straight sets. Gunstone topped Joey Bradley 6-2 and 6-1 while Maloney gave Nels Winn a loss (6-0, 6-1). Scudo dropped Chris Shields 6-0 and 6-2.

But Port Angeles' top two players, Jeremy Fu and Micah Roos, combined to down Sequim's Michael Lee and David Richards in No. 1 doubles play (6-0, 6-1) while the Wolves Robbie Blenk and Alex Skinner fell in straight sets to P.A.'s Tyler Grimsley and Zac Schwiethale (6-2, 6-3). In No. 4 doubles play, Roughriders Hayden McCartney and Connor Reid stopped the Sequim freshman duo Waylon Lam and Byron Boots 6-2 and 6-3.

Sequim was slated to host Olympic Sept. 29 - results were unavailable at press time. The Wolves host Klahowya Oct. 3 at 4 p.m.
