Knights still too strong for Wolves

Even with the Olympic League's top bowler a bit off her game, Bremerton still is the defending state champ and still just as tough to beat.

The Knights swept Sequim 7-0 on Dec. 16 behind the 374-pin series of Kirstie Williams and 332 from Sam Smith. Ariel Wagg, the league's No. 2 bowler by average, had 318 pins.

For the first time this season, Sequim's Alex Whiteside led the Wolves in scoring. She bowled 143 pins in game one and 155 in game two for a 298 series, followed by sister teammate Sam Whiteside with a 241-pin series.

Bremerton took both regular games (765-534 and 817-666) and narrowly took the first Baker game 119-114 before a 160-95 win in the second Baker game.

The Wolves were scheduled to bowl against Olympic Dec. 18 but the match was postponed thanks to poor weather. The Trojans beat Sequim 7-0 on Dec. 2.

Sequim players take nearly three weeks for a winter break, then have three consecutive road matches: Jan. 8 at Peninsula (Gig Harbor), Jan. 13 at Klahowya (Silverdale) and Jan. 15 at North Mason (Belfair).

Olympic League standings

Bremerton 8-1
