Club walk targets Fort Warden trails

Join the Olympic Peninsula Explorers Volkssport Club for a Fort Worden/Cappy Trails club walk on Feb. 14.

The walk follows Cappy Trails through residential areas of Port Townsend and includes a visit to several batteries on Artillery Hill in Fort Worden.

The 5-kilometer option is entirely in Fort Worden State Park and is OK for baby joggers.

The full distance is 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

Walkers meet and sign in at Swain's Outdoors in Port Townsend (602 E. First St.) before 9 a.m.

Those wanting to carpool from Sequim and vicinity are asked to meet at the QFC shopping center, 990 E. Washington St.; the carpool will leave there at 8 a.m.

Fishing club hosts lake toxicology meeting

The Greywolf Fly Fishing Club host a forum regarding toxic algae problems plaguing several east Jefferson County lakes at 7 p.m., Feb. 11 in the main hall at the Gardiner Community Center.

Agency representatives speaking at the meeting include Neil Harrington and Tom Locke from Jefferson County Environmental Health and Water Quality.

The public is invited to attend and participate in looking for solutions to this issue.
