Kazandra Holiday showed why she's one of the best - if not the best - ace in the Olympic League, holding Sequim to just one hit in a 6-1 Klahowya win March 27.

Maddy Zbaraschuk, the Wolves' sophomore catcher, halved a 2-0 Eagles lead with her second home run of the season in the fourth inning but Klahowya put up four runs in the bottom of the sixth to clinch the win.

Holiday racked up 13 strikeouts to keep Klahowya perfect (2-0).

Sequim committed three errors in the loss, the Wolves' first of the young season.

So much for a home-field advantage. Sequim battered 3A counterpart North Kitsap 14-1 in Poulsbo last Monday, slugging 12 hits and scoring 11 runs in the first four innings.

Zbaraschuk was 2-for-5 with a home run, Lea Hopson doubled and scored three times, Kinzie Winfield was 2-for-3 with a triple and Kathryn Roeber had two hits to lead the offense.

Starter Chelsie Winfield shut the Vikings down, striking out six batters and allowing just one hit and three walks in four innings. She added two hits at the plate.

Freshman Demiree Briones was just as sharp, striking out seven and giving up just a walk in three innings pitched. She also had two hits.

The Wolves were error-free while North Kitsap had two miscues.
