Sequim's boys and girls golf teams showed their visitors from North Mason what a home course advantage looks like, handily sweeping the 2A school from Belfair on April 30.
Zoei Zbaraschuk earned medalist honors with 32 Stableford points as four Wolves outscored the Bulldog girls by themselves in a 102-17 win. Kim Duce racked up 23 points, Lisa Doan contributed 20 points and Ashley Morton added 18 points, topping her previous best by seven points.
Sequim's boys capped a long, busy week with a 123-70 win against the Bulldogs, as Colby Rude and North Mason's Michael McDonnell tied for medalist honors with a low gross score of 76 and 32 Stableford points. Ryan O'Mera's round of 84 scored 24 points, followed by Brendon Gilles and Josh Francis who each shot 85.
Sequim started the week with a second-place finish at the Duke Streeter Invitational in Port Angeles, just behind the undefeated Olympic Trojans. The two-man team of Rude and Chad Quinet shot a 66 (six under) while Gilles and Taylor Thorson finished two under with a round of 70. O'Mera and Steve Loerlein played an even-par 72.
A day later, Sequim placed fourth in the eight-team Port Ludlow Invitational, behind Olympic, Chimacum and Kingston.
Rude won the tournament's overall medalist gross scoring with a four-over 76, leading a pack of some of the region's best golfers. Adam Barrows of Chimacum was second with a round of 78. Port Angeles finished eighth.
Sequim's golfers were slated to play Port Townsend on May 4 and Port Angeles on May 5 - results were unavailable at press time. The boys have one more match - a May 8 date at the Skagit Invitational in Burlington - before both teams play in the Olympic League Tournament, scheduled for May 11.
The West Central District tournament is May 18 at Fort Lewis Golf Course and the class 2A state tournament is May 27 at Apple Tree Golf Course in Yakima.
