T-Wolves sweep away Stevens

Bragging rights can stay right here in the Sequim Middle School gym.

The Timberwolves earned a clean sweep of the Stevens Blue (Port Angeles) boys basketball squads on Dec. 10, as the seventh-graders won a blowout and the eighth-grade team won a barn-burning, two-point decision.

Josh Cibene had 17 points and nine rebounds while Alex Barry and Kyle Harrison had 16 points each as Sequim's seventh-graders topped Stevens Blue 65-22. After posting an 8-5 lead after one quarter, the Timberwolves ran away with it in the second frame, outscoring Stevens 21-4.

Cibene had a pair of three-pointers and Barry added 11 assists and five steals.

In the eighth-grade nightcap, Anthony Pinza scored 15 points as the T-Wolves survived, 39-37, despite missing several regular players.

Dylan Chatters had eight points and Jesse Francis had seven in the win. Stevens missed a long three-point try at the buzzer.

Sequim was slated to play Port Angeles' other team, Stevens White, on Dec. 14 - results were not available at press time. The Timberwolves are at Forks on Dec. 17 before the holiday break.



Sequim tops P.T.

The Timberwolves earned a split of varsity games at Blue Heron Middle School (Port Townsend) on Dec. 7.

In the eighth-grade game, Sequim was down just 19-15 in the fourth quarter but Blue Heron held on. Anthony Pinza led the Timberwolves with 10 points while Aaron Witherow chipped in eight points.

Sequim was missing half of the roster - six of 12 players were ineligible.

In the seventh-grade game, Alex Barry scored 22 points and added eight rebounds, seven steals and four assists to lead Sequim to a 64-41 win. Josh Conomos helped the

Sequim cause with 11 points and eight rebounds while teammates Josh Cibene and Kyle Harrison had 10 points each. The T-Wolves were without 6-foot 3-inch post Josh McConnaughey, who was out with an injury.

Port Townsend won the seventh-/eighth-grade junior varsity game, 20-12.
