On Thursday, Sept. 23, Sequim's volleyball team dominated the Klahowya Eagles, 3-0.
Maddy Zbaraschuk had four aces and Haleigh Harrison added another to build a lead for the Wolves early, with Sequim taking the first set, 25-9.
The Eagles came out of the team huddle determined to take the second set, putting the Wolves down 11-7. But Sequim picked it up and with two big spikes from Harrison, regaining their confidence and took control of the second set.
During that game, Rylleigh Zbaraschuk came up with a key pass to Taylor Balkan, who assisted Maddy Zbaraschuk in a powerful spike. After a long battle with the Eagles, the Wolves won the second set, 25-17.
Needing one more game to send the Eagles packing, the Wolves came out ready to play the third. Within just 39 serves, the Wolves won the final set, 25-14.
With a total of 23 assists from Balkan, five aces from Maddy Zbaraschuk, eight digs from Rylleigh Zbaraschuk and Kyla Martin serving 15-of-17 balls into Eagles' territory, the Wolves found sweet victory.
Sequim is at North Mason (Belfair) on Sept. 30.
The Wolves then have a tough, three-day stretch, hosting Kingston on Oct. 7, playing at Vashon on Oct. 8 and playing at the Capital City Tournament in Olympia on Oct. 9.
Trojans trip Sequim
Earlier in the week, Sequim dropped a four-set match to Olympic's Trojans in Silverdale (25-23, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22) on Sept. 21.
Rylleigh Zbaraschuk led the team with 11 kills, 15 digs and perfect 15-of-15 serving.
Harrison added six blocks while Balkan had 30 assists.
Shannon Jackson had 11 kills and Jenna Tibbetts added 29 assists for the Trojans.
The Wolves were scheduled to host Bremerton on Sept. 28 - results were unavailable at press time.
