For much of the 2010-2011 campaign, Sequim’s been a team on fire.

Last Friday they met up with a team even hotter.

Bremerton’s Knights extended their winning streak to eight games with a 59-49 win against the Wolves in Bremerton on Jan. 21, dropping Sequim (8-4, 12-4) into fourth place in the Olympic League.

Andrew Shadle scored 21 points and Michael Lawrence added 16 points to lead the Knights, who outscored Sequim 20-8 in the first quarter and held the lead throughout.

Jayson Brocklesby led Sequim with 15 points and Gabe Carter added 10 points, 10 rebounds five assists and three steals.

Sequim struggled from the field, hitting 35 percent from the field and sinking just four of 22 tries from the three-point stripe.

The Wolves were slated to host Klahowya on Jan. 25 — results were unavailable at press time.

On Jan. 28, Sequim travels to Poulsbo to face the last-place North Kitsap Vikings, the first of three consecutive road match-ups. The Wolves are at Kingston on Feb. 4 and Port Angeles on Feb. 8.

Sequim boys overpower North Mason

For two teams with such a storied past, the Sequim Wolves dismissed their host North Mason Bulldogs rather abruptly.

In the process, Sequim moved up in the Olympic League standings.

The Wolves got 15 points from Corbin Webb, 14 points from Brocklesby and 13 points from Carter in a 55-34 win in Belfair on Jan. 18.

Carter scored 10 points in the first quarter as Sequim took a 14-10 advantage. After the Bulldogs tied it at 14 apiece, the Wolves went on a 12-4 run before halftime.

Brocklesby scored 10 points in a decisive third quarter, as Sequim pushed the lead to 13 points at 41-28.

Kasey Bielec led the Bulldogs with nine points.
