Despite a 4-3 loss to Port Angeles last week, Sequim topped rivals PA and North Kitsap for the Olympic League title.

Though each team finished the 2012 campaign with more than one loss, Sequim was a perfect 8-0 in matches counting toward the league championship.

North Kitsap and Port Angeles tied for second place at 6-2.

Top league players are gearing up for the league tourney, set for tomorrow, Oct. 10.

Last week, Port Angeles swept all four doubles match-ups and edged the Wolves by the slimmest of margins on Oct. 5.

Sequim's Donovan Lee, Issaiah Dewan and Victor Lam each earned singles victories, but Port Angeles swept the doubles matches, including three-set victories in No. 2 and No. 4 doubles matches.

Sequim started the week with a 7-0 home shutout of Bremerton, losing just two sets in the process. Lee led the way with a straight-set win against top Knight singles player Spencer Stuart, while Dewan and Lam added singles victories. Eli Berg and Saul Nava needed a third set tiebreaker to win in No. 2 doubles, as did teammates Royhon Agostine and Brendon Hudson in No. 4 doubles.

A day later, Sequim won all 14 sets in a 7-0 whitewashing in Belfair against North Mason. Lee, Dewan and Lam won in singles play, while Brandon Payne and Matthew Richards topped the Bulldogs' top doubles duo of Cody Champine and Noah Wilson, 6-3 and 6-3.

On Oct. 3, Sequim stopped a combined Chimacum/Port Townsend squad with a 7-0 win. Sequim swept four doubles matches and accepted three forfeits in singles.

Sequim finishes the season an 11-2 overall record, with the only other blemish a 4-3, non-league defeat at North Kitsap in the season's first week.

Top singles and doubles players from the Olympic League tourney advance to the West Central District tournament in May, when boys and girls tennis postseason tourneys align.
