After a surprising turnout at the subdistricts, the Sequim Lady Wolves bowlers again showed improvement, though not quite enough to earn a spot at the state tournament.

At districts on Jan. 26, Captain Megan McAndie led Sequim with games of 145, 138 and 135 for a 418 total and 139 average.

Mikayla Ahlin bowled 135, 165 and 90 for 390 and a 130 average; Tenille Tosland, a fill-in varsity member, bowled 125, 135, 124 for 384 and a 128 average; and Karli Furgurson went 104, 101 and 127 for 332 and a 110 average.

Coach Randy Perry said the four girls did great and need a little more work and a few of them could go to state later.

“I know they will work on their game this summer and be ready for next year,” he said.

As he predicted, the cutoff for an individual average for state was just below 160, with a 154 average and 464 total.

Sequim Lady Wolves bowlers missed qualifying for subdistricts as a team and finished their regular season with a record of 2-9-1 in fourth place ahead of North Mason. Their team average was 102 with a series average of 514.

This year saw the team's largest turnout with 16 girls. They practice Wednesdays and on occasional Saturdays at Sequim Olympic Lanes during the season and the bowlers often play a handful of practice rounds for more experience during meets.

Home meets will take place in Sequim next year as opposed to Port Angeles.
