Here comes the weekend, and, if you are like most of us, you choose
carefully how you'll spend those 72 hours. Here are some suggestions:

• The Port Angeles Community Players has given aspiring and seasoned actors time in the limelight for many years. Its most recent offering, “Out of Order,” opens tonight. See Page C-6.
• Peninsula College is featuring environment films in its Magic of Cinema series this term. “End of the line” is about the consequences of overfishing. Like many good things, it comes with a caution. See Page C-6.
• You may have seen it a dozen times, but Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” remains a favorite. P.A. High School students close their production this weekend. See Page C-6.
• Author David Laskin shares from his story of 12 immigrants who fought for the U.S. in “The Long Way Home: An American Journey from Ellis Island to the Great War.” History, patriotism and courage are celebrated here. See Page C-7.
Saturday, May 1
• “Spring Fling” activities begin today and run throughout the month. If you walk, hike or bird watch, or want to support those who do, you’ll find a way. Information is at www.dungenessrivercenter.org.
• P.A. City Council member Max Mania is very funny. He joins with others for an evening of comedy that benefits the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center. If the weather cooperates, go early and enjoy “Art Outside.” See Page C-6.
• Two groups of expert gardeners, the Master Gardeners of Clallam County and the Port Angeles Garden Club, are sharing their expertise and plants just in time for you to add them to your own collection. See Page C-7.
• There’s an old-time community potluck dinner and dance tonight in Dungeness. Bring a favorite dish and wear your cowboy boots; you’ll have a good time whether you dance or listen. See Page C-3.
Sunday, May 2
• Check out the Pow Wow Comedy Jam Web site at www.jokesignals.com/. They will be at the 7 Cedars Casino tonight. Take a break from being politically correct while traveling the “Trail of Laughs” with four bright, funny young Native Americans. See Page C-10
