During March Sequim’s up-and-coming wrestlers learned the basics at Mat Rats. Coaches and high school wrestlers taught techniques and strategies twice a week to students ages 5-12 in the Sequim Community School gymnasium.

The season is early, but Sequim’s track and field squads look good off the blocks. Sequim’s boys took top honors and the Wolves’ girls squad placed fourth at the 10-team Port Angeles Invitational on Saturday, March 22.
So far, so good. Sequim High’s baseball squad posted three convincing wins in as many games last week to start the 2014 campaign.
Sequim’s fastpitch squad made quick work of the visiting Port Townsend Redskins on March 26, scoring 15 runs in the first two innings and cruising to a 23-1 victory in the teams’ Olympic League opener.
Led by medalist Jack Shea, Sequim’s boys golf squad improved to 1-1 with a 224-268 win against Bremerton on March 20 (lower score wins).
A busy season, but a successful one. Sequim’s fifth- and seventh-grade boys AAU basketball squads finished their 2013-2014 seasons recently. Both teams played in several tournaments and a league put on by the City of Poulsbo.
It took all 90 minutes of regulation — and a few minutes more — to decide this early Olympic League showdown.
