Glenn E. Garner and Helen A. Siemens were married on Aug. 3, 1956, in Blaine. They met in Oak Harbor while Helen, a graduate from the University of Washington, was teaching home economics and Glenn was finishing his Navy stay.
They moved to McMinnville, Ore., where Glenn earned a degree in history at Linfield College. In 1960, they settled in the San Francisco Bay area where they lived for 35 years. Glenn worked as a manufacturing engineer for Ampex Corporation and Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale and Helen taught at Quimby Oak School for 26 years, retiring in 1994.
The couple returned to their Washington roots in 1996 and are grateful for their many new friends in the sunny Sequim paradise.
Throughout their marriage, Glenn and Helen have been active in church activities, singing in the choir, serving on boards and teaching Bible studies.
Also, for about 15 years, Helen wrote a weekly HOPE letter (Helen’s Old People’s Energizer), which she sent to older family and friends to encourage them.
Glenn has used his wood-working skills to help family, friends and local ministries with large and small projects.
Glenn and Helen are grateful to celebrate their 60 years of marriage with family.
