Peninsula College sets cultural fair for Friday

Peninsula College hosts its second Culture Fair, set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, March 18, in the Pirate Union Building on the main campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

Peninsula College hosts its second Culture Fair, set for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, March 18, in the Pirate Union Building on the main campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.

This year, the Culture Fair includes a recognition of tribal flags.

Students from Peninsula College, Port Angeles High School and other area schools have been collaborating during afternoon workshops in preparation for the event.

This has included college experience workshops where students toured specialized areas of the campus and learned about academic and professional programs.

Guest artists are slated to work with students on projects such as carving, weaving and beadwork. Artists include master carver George David (Nuu-chah-nulth) and Mark Johnson (Makah), master weaver Theresa Parker, Jamie Valadez (Lower Elwha), beadwork with Leilani Barkley (Lower Elwha) and carver Darrell Charles (Lower Elwha).

The event is free and open to the public and all are invited to participate in the fair and encouraged to attend.
