Port Angeles to host tourism summit

One-day seminar to feature experts in business, social media

The 2013 Olympic Peninsula Tourism Summit is slated for Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles.

 

The Olympic Peninsula Tourism Commission announced that the daylong seminar (8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) is designed to celebrate and advance the Olympic Peninsula tourism industry. Fill one’s toolbox with new marketing skills, connect with neighbors and industry partners and get big picture ideas to move businesses forward.

The theme of “Back to Basics” includes hands-on sessions with experts in Facebook, Pinterest, Trip Advisor and excellence in customer service.

 

Rep. Kevin Van De Wege opens the event with a remarks, and keynote speaker Allyson Brooks, Director/State Historic Preservation Officer from the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, presents, “Telling Your Story: How a ‘Sense of Place’ Can Create Interest and Increase Customers.’”

 

Phil Giudice, representing TripAdvisor, leads a Reputation Management Seminar designed to help businesses maximize their best assets using TripAdvisor.

 

Lisa McMahan from Sparkloft Media unveils the latest local Facebook and Pinterest promotion, “Fall into the Olympic Peninsula.”

 

Local professionals discuss regional efforts aimed at the tourism market.

 

Louise Stanton-Masten, Washington Tourism Alliance executive director, discusses guiding principles and long-term solutions for tourism and marketing in Washington, and Diane Schostak, executive director of the Olympic Peninsula Visitors Bureau, speaks about the Olympic Peninsula Tourism Commission and recent Olympic Peninsula marketing efforts.
