Art Walk to shine in autmn hues

Find works of art and folks supporting the option to dress in shades of bountiful brown or representations of hearth and harvest as they enjoy an evening on the town with friends and family.

First Friday Art Walk Sequim is a free, self-guided tour of local art venues in Sequim on the First Friday of every month from 5-8 p.m. Visit online at www.sequimartwalk.com as a resource to download and print a map, find special events that are happening, links and how to be part of art. The event’s mission is to create approachable, accessible art and cultural venues encouraging the community to connect and celebrate expression and diversity.

Initiated in 2006, the First Friday Art Walk Sequim is an encouraging and educational arts event that is sponsored and produced by Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond/unique as you. Special events for Nov. 7

• Music performance by Brother Townsend at Adagio Bean & Leaf at 981 E. Washington St. and exhibition of fine art photography and greeting cards of Jan Kepley.

• Engage with local fiber artists demonstrating their talents at the fiber arts exhibit “Parallel Patterns – Significant Schemes, Seams & Symbols” at the Museum & Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley at 175 W. Cedar St. This juried exhibition reveals themes, designs and relationships through fiber, fabric and fashions.

First Friday Art Walk

• Blue Whole Gallery, 129. W. Washington St. Featured artists of the month of November are two veteran artists well known in the community: Karin Anderson (mixed media artist) and Jan Tatom (fiber artist) in “As if a tapestry of nature” exhibit. Artists’ reception from 5-8 p.m.

• Bank of America, 114 S. Sequim Ave. Judy Priest, watercolor artist, through November.

• Colors of Sequim, 139 W. Washington St. Priscilla Patterson is the featured artist of the month. Meet the artist from 5-8 p.m.

• Gallery at the Fifth Avenue, 500 W. Hendrickson Road. Roxanne Grinstad, watercolor artist will be featured during November. Artist’s reception 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16.

• LARC Gallery, 425 E. Washington St. Artist Shirley Mercer, reception from 5-8 p.m.

• Strait Financial Advice, 193 W. Cedar St. Scott Erickson’s photographic scenes of Southwest Alaska, North Olympic Peninsula and other locations in the U.S. are on display during normal business hours.

• Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave. Wordsmith and storyteller Phil Dominiak at 6 p.m. in the Gathering Hall.

• Gallery on the Walls, 128 E. Washington St., showcases Sally Cays and Patricia Taynton inside the Sequim Vision Center.

• R&T Crystals and Beads, 158 E. Bell St., will have jewelry demonstrations from Paulette Hill and Gail McLain.

• Pacific Pantry, 229 S. Sequim Ave., is exhibiting fine art photography and greeting cards of Jan Kepley.

• Heatherton Art Gallery, 115 E. Railroad Ave. Artists’ reception Saturday, Nov. 15.

• The Landing Art Studio, 115 E. Railroad Ave. Janie Brackney, pen and ink artist, will be featured this month. Meet the artist from 5-8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Nov. 14-15.

• Port Angeles Fine Arts Center, 1203 E. Lauridsen Blvd. Art Convergence 2014, Nov. 13-Jan. 9. Jurors’ discussion, 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, with Karen Hackenberg and Margie McDonald followed by a free reception.
