The Adventure Travel Series begins its seventh year on Jan. 4. The entertaining talks about adventurous travel are a Peninsula Trails Coalition fundraiser to buy supplies and lunches for volunteers working on the Olympic Discovery Trail and the Adventure Route.
A suggested donation is $5. Children 12 and under are free. The first four slide shows start at 7 p.m. in the Port Angeles Senior Center at 328 E. Seventh St. For questions about the slide shows, call Gunvor Hildal at 452-8641 or Gail Hall at 808-4223.

The Port Angeles series is on Friday evenings from Jan. 4-Feb. 1, except on Jan. 25, when there is no show. Come hear Roger Drake tell some tales from a father and son adventure that visited Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina and Tierra del Fuego. From Ushuaia, which calls itself “The End of the World,” the pair also ventured out on the sea to see the island wildlife in the Beagle Channel.

Chris Duff, “Rowing from Scotland to the Faroe Islands: The challenge, the people and the inner journey”
Join Chris Duff on board the Northern Reach, his ocean-rowing boat, as he takes you from the sheltered waters of western Scotland, across The Minch, to the western isles of the Outer Hebrides, then northward for a 200-mile open ocean crossing to the Faroe Islands. This will be an evening of stories, photos and videos collected on the open sea, in the harbors, villages and homes of the island people who welcomed Duff along his route. With a small sail and a set of oars, Duff will take you back to a different time, when the tides and winds dictated the course set and the pace of life.

Steve Hauff, “Bavaria, Beer, Bratwurst and Bahnen: Modern Rail Travel in Germany”
Never one for half measures when it comes to trains, Steve Hauff got the whole story of train travel in Germany. This presentation will have practical information for those who might wish to travel by rail in Germany and plenty of entertainment for the vicarious traveler. Hauff will cover urban trams and light rail, the different types of passenger trains, museums and preservation railroads, stations, schedules and seating, along with passes and websites.
