Sequim City Council has agreed unanimously to challenge the Dungeness River Management Team over its proposed in-stream flow rules and its allocation of the city’s reuse water.

The council also agreed to have Interim City Manager Linda Herzog mediate with "appropriate agencies" the city’s issues with its state grant to expand its reuse water plant.

City Attorney Craig Ritchie said both the city and the state Department of Ecology want to find the best way to use water, but the city doesn’t want to "just give away its water."

The letters that will be sent out next week will quote from several sources saying Ecology can’t do that, he said.
