On Wednesday, June 25, Karen Westwood chaired her first meeting as the president of North Olympic Land Trust’s board of directors. Westwood was elected unanimously at the board’s May 28 meeting.

Westwood, a retired banking executive, initially was elected to the Land Trust board a year ago due to her deep passion and commitment for conserving the farms, fish and forests of the North Olympic Peninsula. She was quickly identified by other board members as an effective leader, excellent at guiding the group in its duty to oversee the nonprofit’s land conservation efforts across Clallam County. She also has been an active leader in several local nonprofits including the League of Women Voters of Clallam County, Museum & Arts Center and the Northwest Women’s Flyfishers.

The board also elected Nancy McLaughlin as its vice president, Layton Carr as treasurer and Liam Antrim as secretary.
