Plant now for fall, winter harvest

Veteran WSU Clallam County Master Gardener David Rambin will share tips for growing fresh vegetables from the garden well into the fall and winter at noon Thursday, June 26, in the county commissioners meeting room of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Veteran WSU Clallam County Master Gardener David Rambin will share tips for growing fresh vegetables from the garden well into the fall and winter at noon Thursday, June 26, in the county commissioners meeting room of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E Fourth St., Port Angeles.

He will explain the types and varieties of plants suited for fall and winter harvest, planting dates and site preparation, and other practices for extending the growing season.

He also will discuss harvest and storage methods designed to keep a good supply of vegetables available to eat during the winter months.

Rambin completed Master Gardener training in 2012. A graduate of Northwestern State University, Rambin has been gardening for the past 30 years in the Northwest. He serves as the vice president of the Master Gardener Foundation of Clallam County.

The Green Thumb Garden Tips brown bag series is sponsored by the WSU Clallam County Master Gardeners on the second and fourth Thursday of every month in Port Angeles.

Attendees may bring a lunch. The presentations are free and open to the public. However, donations to help offset copying costs for handouts are accepted.
