Golden Crafts Shop to close
After 40 years as a cooperative business for crafters 50 and over, Port Angeles’ Golden Crafts Shop, 112-C S. Lincoln St., will close its doors at the end of business Dec. 24. Long a source for expert handicrafts, the shop is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and will add hours in December. Call the shop at 457-0509.
Turkey Day Workout benefits Sequim Food Bank
Anytime Fitness, 10131 Old Olympic Highway, Sequim, will hold a 1,000-calorie workout to raise money for the Sequim Food Bank on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 22. The 90-minute workout begins at 9 a.m.; entry fee is a $10 donation to the food bank. The intense workout is for those who have been working out regularly. Call 683-4110 to reserve a spot.
Local farmer speaks at conference
Sam McCollough, grain, equipment and vegetable manager at Nash’s Organic Produce, gave a presentation “Incorporating Grains into a Diversified Vegetable Farm,” on Nov. 15 at the Focus on Farming Conference at the Comcast Arena in Everett. McCollough, who has worked with Nash’s Organic Produce for 14 years, was among those presenting innovative ideas to the 600 participants at the national conference.
Sears collecting for charity
Sears in Sequim is collecting nonperishable food items to donate to local charities. Customers are encouraged to drop by the Sears Hometown Store at 232 Valley Center Place and drop off items now through Dec. 29. Each person who donates a food item will receive $5 off a purchase of $50. The food collected will be donated to The Salvation Army.
“The holidays can be a difficult time of year for so many. Together with our customers, we are working to collect items for the food drive to give back to those in our communities who are less fortunate,” said store owner Robert Grey. “We are grateful for the support we have received from the Sequim residents and hope that this food drive makes a difference in their lives.”
P.A. Chamber hosts variety of guests
The Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce hosts guests during its Monday lunches. The chamber meets at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., at noon. Cost for lunch is $13; the public is invited to attend.
