Before a strong rally by the Port Angeles Roughriders, Nick Johnston and the Wolves looked strong and on their way to a win on Wednesday.

But the high winds must have come from Port Angeles to help the Roughriders (6-4 6-4) rally.

They ran rampant on the base path scoring seven runs in the top of the seventh to turn around a Wolves lead from 5-1 to a losing effort 8-5 giving Port Angeles the win.

Johnston had seven strikeouts through six innings for Sequim (3-6, 5-6) but Port Angeles’ hitters powered past Sequim in the seventh frame.

Port Angeles had seven hits in nine at bats. In the seventh, Ryan Mudd scored first after advancing to first on an error. Brady Konopaski hit a double two batters later to advance Mudd and Zach Louik, making it 3-3. Marcus Konopaski hit a single knocking in Brady (4-3 P.A.). Michael Konopaski hit a single next before Larsson Chapman walked and Chase Jangula hit another single to score two more runners making it 6-5 P.A. At bat for the second time in the inning, Mudd added an RBI single.

Early on, the Wolves looked on their way to winning. Sequim scored twice in the second inning. Austin Clement advanced to first on a fielder’s choice and Cameron Harrison made it to first on an error before Jon Donahue hit a double to score both base runners making it 2-1 Sequim.

In the third inning, Johnston got on base after a wild pitch and Fred Serrano was hit by a pitch. Clement helped the Wolves, advancing both runners before Brandon Jones hit Johnston and Serrano in with a single.

But things went quiet in the fourth and fifth until Serrano cracked a triple and scored on a passed pitch to give the Wolves a 5-1 lead. Sequim couldn’t get any more hits after that.  

April 9 — North Mason 10, Sequim 0

The Wolves didn’t fare as well earlier in the week either as North Mason shut out Sequim at home on April 9.

Sequim recorded just four hits as the Bulldogs’ Jordan Young struck out seven and walked none in the victory.
