The Klahhane Gymnastics level 4 team competed April 26-27 at the state meet in Bellevue.
Ashlynn Uvila competed in the silver division as a 9-year-old and took second place all-around with 36.15 points. Also competing in the silver division was Reilly Reed, who also took second place all-around in her age group with a 36.825 score.
Klahhane had four gymnasts competing in the bronze division: Emily VanDyken, Maya Wharton, Adare McMinn and Lillian Oden.
Wharton earned fourth place all-around with 36.0 points while VanDyken scored 34.825, a personal best, to bring home eighth place. Oden finished 13th with 33.925 points.
Clarissa Preston and Vanessa Martinez competed in the gold (highest) division.
On May 6, Madylan Coventon competed individually at the level 6 state championships at the Northshore Gymnastics Academy in Woodinville. She fared well as she competed against some of the best in the state, scoring 9.0 on beam, 9.05 on vault, 8.4 on the floor exercise and 7.5 on bars, with an all around score of 33.95.
Fourth at sectionals
Port Angeles-based Klahhane Gymnastics competed at the Leading Edge North Star Sectionals meet in Bellingham on April 13, with both level 4 and level 6 teams taking fourth place in the team standings overall.
In level 6 competition, Coventon placed seventh in the all-around scoring with 33.77 points, earning a berth at the state level 6 competition.
On the strength of a solid 9.1 score on vault, Emily Giammalva of Sequim finished with an all-around score of 32.575 points and is the runner-up for the state competition. Ashley Westrem, also of Sequim, took 12th in the level 6 standings with 31.7 points.
In the level 4 competition, Klahhane saw all seven members earn a state meet-qualifying score. Sequim gymnasts Martinez (35.625 points) and Preston (35.6) will compete in the state meet gold division, while Reed (35.1) and Uvila (35.1) earned silver division state berths. Bronze division qualifiers include Wharton (33.725 points), VanDyken (33.5) and Oden (32.55).
In level 5 competition, Lexi Hefton earned 30.65 all-around points, including a fourth-place finish on the bars with an 8.2 mark.
