Malcolm found guilty of felonies
Matt M. Malcolm, 24, of Port Angeles, was found guilty on July 14 in Clallam County Superior Court of delivery of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and bail jumping.
The case began as an Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team operation in Sequim during which OPNET members purchased methamphetamine in the parking lot of a large store in the 1100 block of West Washington Street.
As the case continued, OPNET members also purchased heroin at an apartment in the 100 block of West Sixth Street in Port Angeles. OPNET developed probable cause to arrest Malcolm and he was arrested.
During Malcolm’s arrest Sequim Police recovered additional narcotics. As the case progressed, Malcolm missed a court date and the charge of bail jumping was added. A jury found Malcolm guilty of delivering methamphetamine to OPNET, possessing methamphetamine in Sequim and bail jumping. The jury was not able to reach a unanimous verdict on the heroin delivery charge.
That case, which occurred within 1,000 feet of a school bus stop, will be re-set for trial.
Meanwhile Malcolm’s sentencing is scheduled for July 22.
Kennedy sentenced
Kyler J. Kennedy, 21, of Sequim, was sentenced to serve 24 months probation after pleading guilty to a series of crimes including delivery of a controlled substance.
Kennedy pled guilty on April 9 to delivery of a controlled substance, burglary 2, possession of stolen property 3, escape 3, and five counts of theft 3. The property crimes were investigated by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office. As a result of the guilty plea, Kennedy was sentenced on June 24. Kennedy’s previous criminal history includes possession of a controlled substance.
Silvas sentenced in heroin case
Beau J. Silvas, 20, of Port Angeles, was sentenced to serve 24 months probation on July 10.
Silvas pled guilty on April 24 to two counts of delivery of heroin and one count of possession of heroin. A third count of delivery of heroin was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Silvas’ guilty plea was the result of an OPNET investigation during which the team developed probable cause to believe that Silvas delivered heroin to OPNET members on three separate occasions.
OPNET also located additional heroin during the execution of a narcotics search warrant at a Port Angeles motel where Silvas was arrested.
Morehead charged for methamphetamine delivery
Jason W. Morehead, 44, of Port Angeles, has been charged with three counts of delivery of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school bus stop.
The charges are the results of an OPNET investigation during which the team developed probable cause to believe that Morehead delivered methamphetamine to OPNET members on three separate days in May.
Morehead was arrested on June 23 and his vehicle was seized by OPNET because team members had probable cause to believe that the vehicle was used to deliver methamphetamine.
