Less than three months after being hired as executive officer of the North Peninsula Building Association, Lary Coppola has resigned from the position.
Coppola said the commute from his Port Orchard home was simply too difficult for him and for his family.
He said the commute required him to drive 150 miles a day. Early morning meetings and late afternoon appointments cut too deeply into family time.
He said the parting was amicable, with no hard feelings on anyone’s part.
Coppola brought plenty of political and professional experience to the job. He is a longtime member and board member of the Home Builders Association of Kitsap County.
He also also served as state director for Building Industry Association of Washington from Kitsap County, as 2013 vice chairman of the Washington Affordable Housing Council and as mayor of Port Orchard.
He took over for FaLeana Wech, who took the position of Communications and Public Relations director for the BIAW, based in Olympia.
