And then there were three.
A trio of traditional Olympic League powerhouses — Sequim, Port Angeles and North Kitsap — remain undefeated in league play heading into this week, but by Thursday evening that will change.
The Wolves (2-0 in league, 5-4 overall) host the undefeated North Kitsap Vikings Thursday.
Sequim picked up a pair of three-game victories last week, sweeping Kingston on the road on Oct. 1 and Klahowya at home on Oct. 3.
Sequim plays North Mason in Belfair on Oct. 8. The Wolves play at the Capital City tournament in Olympia on Oct. 12.
Battling at Mark Morris
Sequim went 0-2-1 in pool play at the Mark Morris tournament in Longview on Sept. 28, opening with a 25-16, 25-15 loss to Black Hills and a 25-11, 25-19 loss to Battle Ground.
The Wolves rebounded with a split of two games against Kelso, 16-25, and 25-13.
In bracket play, Sequim topped Seton in two games (25-18, 25-23) and lost to Yelm in three (25-20, 19-25, 15-11).
Alexas Besand paced the offense with 29 kills and was 22-of-25 serving. Alyse Armstrong had 18 kills, 59 assists, five blocks and was 28-of-33 on serves. Kate Harker led the team with nine blocks.
Hannah Hudson had a team-high 43 digs and led the team in passing. Emily Wallner added 11 kills.
"We got better during the day and we figured out some stuff," Sequim coach Jennie Weber Heilman said.
