Breakage from a spiritual standpoint

Olympic Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 73 Howe Road, Agnew, hosts speaker Joseph Bednarik, who will present at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, “Golden Cracks: Breakage and the Fine Arts of Repair.”

This sermon explores breakage and repair, with a special focus on “kintsugi,” the Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with gold, to create visible repairs that accentuate, rather than disguise, the history of an object.

Stations of the Cross

Throughout the Lenten season, members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church walk the Stations of the Cross at noon every Friday. Walking the Stations of the Cross refers to a devotional depiction of the final hours of Christ. T

he object of the Stations is to help the faithful make a spiritual pilgrimage of prayer while tracing the last steps of Jesus. St. Luke’s is at 525 N. Fifth Ave. in Sequim and everyone is welcome.


World Day of Pray in March

This year’s local World Day of Prayer will be from noon-1 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Sequim Community Church, 950 N. Fifth Ave. Women, men and children in more than 170 countries and regions will celebrate World Day of Prayer.

This year, the women of the World Day of Prayer Committee of Cuba call others into worship considering the words “Receive children, receive me.” With these words as backdrop, everyone is invited to learn about Cuba’s history and rich cultural diversity.


Open up in Listening Circles

Clallam County Interfaith Community invites the public to its Listening Circle from 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Lopez Ave., Port Angeles.

Listening Circles are a type of dialogue that fosters curiosity, compassionate understanding and deeper respect for the experiences of each person present. Small group and large group format may be used.

A multi-faith team will facilitate the evening. Participants share their personal understanding and experience on a group topic. The first topic is “The Golden Rule.”

Discipleship seminar offered at DCC

The public is invited to a seminar about Biblical discipleship from 6-8 pm. Friday, March 11, and from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Dungeness Community Church, 45 Eberle Way, Sequim.

A light breakfast will be available Saturday at 8:30 a.m. There will be a break from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. where a light lunch will be provided (special dietary needs plan accordingly) or lunch on your own.

Stephen Armstrong, founder of Verse by Verse Ministry International, will lead the seminar, exploring practical ways to fulfill the Christian’s calling to make disciples. Question and answer sessions will be part of each day’s schedule.
