Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team sources

On Sept. 26, OPNET and Washington State Patrol SWAT members executed a search warrant at an undeveloped piece of property in the 300 block of Marshall Road east of Sequim. The search was part of a methamphetamine distribution case that led OPNET to that property.

During the search OPNET members recovered several firearms, including handguns, shotguns and old military-style carbines.

The team also recovered property that had been reported stolen.

The property included a bulldozer reported stolen from Port Townsend area, an excavator reported stolen from Thurston County, an off-road vehicle reported stolen from Clallam County, a motorcycle reported stolen from Port Angeles and a boat motor reported stolen from Port Townsend.

Also found on the property was a car reported stolen from Mason County, though the car was not recovered because of the location and condition of the vehicle.

One estimate indicated that the bulldozer alone represented a $30,000 loss to a Port Townsend area resident.

Kenneth Simmons, 49, and Sean E. White, 44, who already are wanted on arrest warrants in unrelated cases, also are wanted for questioning along with Christina Messenger, 52, in this open OPNET case. Citizens who see Simmons, White or Messenger are asked to call 9-1-1 and provide information to police dispatch immediately.

Chapman pleads guilty      

Travis Dan Chapman, 40, of Sequim, pled guilty on Sept. 24 to delivery of a controlled substance and bail jumping in Clallam County Superior Court.

Chapman’s guilty plea is the result of an OPNET investigation during which team members developed probable cause to believe Chapman delivered about 2½ ounces of methamphetamine to OPNET between April and June 2010.

Chapman also failed to appear for a hearing, resulting in an additional charge of bail jumping.

Davis arrested on warrant

John Dale Davis, 51, of Sequim, was arrested by OPNET and Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies on Sept. 16, at his residence in the 300 block of River Road.

Davis remains in the Clallam County jail. The warrant was issued for the arrest of Davis on Sept. 4, after he failed to comply with a court order connected with a recent OPNET case.

Davis was sentenced to serve 24 months probation plus three to six months of intensive inpatient treatment on Aug. 21.

Davis pled guilty to two counts of delivery of methamphetamine in exchange for two additional counts being dismissed.
