First Federal has donated $5,000 to Peninsula Behavioral Health, benefitting the organization’s annual fundraising dinner that was held May 6 at the Red Lion Hotel in Port Angeles.
Jessie Close, sister of actress Glenn Close, was this year’s keynote speaker. Close has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and shared the story of her struggle with mental illness.
Peninsula Behavioral Health has been Clallam County’s primary resource for mental health services for 45 years and last year it served approximately 4,000 men, women and children. All of its private fundraising efforts benefit an all-too-familiar challenge: providing services for underinsured and unfunded clients.
“First Federal has been a real friend to the agency since we started hosting annual fund raisers six years ago. Their support has had a direct impact on the well-being of our clients who would otherwise not receive necessary treatment. Every dollar matters. Every life matters,” said Rebekah Miller, development coordinator, Peninsula Behavioral Health.
