Clallam County Superior Court
Allison Louise Dick – Dick, 26, Sequim, was sentenced Dec. 1 on one count of furnishing liquor to a minor. She was given credit for two days served in jail with the remaining 363 days suspended for two years. She must pay $795 in fines and court costs plus restitution and will be on probation for two years. She also must undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation within 60 days. Counts of unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree assault were dismissed with prejudice, meaning they can’t be refiled. According to court records, Dick took two minors to her residence, allowed the female to drink and then forced her to drink more. Then she assaulted the female, who later escaped with the other minor, when she called for a ride home.
Clifford E. Hanning – Hanning, 23, transient, had charges of second-degree burglary, third-degree malicious mischief (property damage) and third-degree theft dismissed on Dec. 3 without prejudice, meaning they can be refiled later.
James Edward McCauley – McCauley, 60, Sequim, had his trial date reset to Feb. 8, 2010, on charges of second-degree assault – deadly weapon and hit and run injury accident. Prosecutor John Troberg will seek to join the case with that of his wife, Patricia Loehr McCauley, 56, Sequim, who was charged Oct. 23 with one count of making false or misleading statements to a public servant. The next court appearance for both is set for Dec. 17. Larry Freedman, James McCauley’s defense attorney, told Judge George Wood at a Dec. 4 hearing he has had issues getting statements from witnesses. According to court records, James McCauley allegedly intentionally ran into a pedestrian crossing a Port Angeles street and then drove away about 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. Pat McCauley allegedly told a police officer that the pedestrian had jumped onto the car’s hood. She is being represented by defense attorney John Hayden.
Karyn Nicole Prouty – Prouty, 20,
Sequim was sentenced Dec. 3 under the drug offender sentencing alternative for charges of residential burglary, first-degree theft and possession of a controlled substance. She will pay $800 in fines and court costs plus restitution and be on probation for two years. She also will complete 90-180 days of inpatient substance abuse treatment. According to court records, Prouty plotted with others on Aug. 25 to rob a Sequim residence on Aug. 29. She was arrested Sept. 12 in connection with an Aug. 29 burglary of a Sequim residence that included a safe containing several thousand dollars. She confessed to deputies that she was the lookout for the Aug. 29 burglary and provided the pickup truck to transport the stolen safe. The drug charges stem from OxyContin and methadone tablets found during a search of a car in which she was a passenger that was stopped following the burglary.
Mark Juan Buckner – Buckner, 47,
Sequim, was charged Dec. 2 with intimidating a current or prospective witness. According to court documents, Buckner allegedly threatened to assault a police informant who bought cocaine from Buckner on several occasions for which he also is facing charges. His arraignment was set for Dec. 11.
