Counts of unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree assault were dismissed with prejudice, meaning they can’t be refiled. The next court appearance for both is set for Dec. 17. Larry Freedman, James McCauley’s defense attorney, told Judge George Wood at a Dec. 4 hearing he has had issues getting statements from witnesses. According to court records, James McCauley allegedly intentionally ran into a pedestrian crossing a Port Angeles street and then drove away about 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18.
