With the weather turning for the colder, the Grand Olympics Chorus hope to warm your weekend with medleys about the weather from the barbershop.

Its new show the “Weather Girl” centers on an aspiring weather girl, played by Alena Menefee, as she approaches a local radio station for a job.

The manager asks her to raise money for a new tower. To do so, she creates a show for the masses and the “Weather Girl” is born.

Shows run for two performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, in the Sequim High School auditorium.

The chorus makes up the first act and barbershop guest stars Aspire! (2013 fourth place Region 13 women’s quartet), The Jaybirds, No Batteries Required and Olympic Peninsula Men’s Chorus sing the second act along with quartets Hot Apple Pie and Family Matters which features Menefee, her father Mike, the chorus’ director, and sisters Connie Alward and Linda Muldowney.

Songs focus on the weather like “Stormy Weather,” Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella” and “Rhythm of the Rain,” arranged by Mike Menefee.

“Weather Girl” is the chorus’ annual show.

As a nonprofit, the 30-woman group offers musical education for women through four-part harmony barbershop music. They are a part of the 30,000 members of the Sweet Adelines International.
